Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF) event
Submitted by Safe Internet on Mon, 2010-03-01 01:00
The common theme with innovators and technical people is freedom for engineering innovation and to spur new business models. At the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF) event, “Going Mobile: Technology and Policy Issues in the Mobile Internet Age” continued technical innovation relies on four key principles: no limit to freedom of network engineering; no limit to the freedom of ISP’s, network operators or service providers to devise new financial or business models; recognition that the Internet is global so no one country can set all the rules; and lastly that engineering freedom does not give license to theft. Oversight is needed but with a continued light touch.”
